Life changed forever when cancer grabbed a hold of my child. From that precise moment, I began to see the world around me with a heightened sense of survival and purpose. My paintings explore the relationships between fear, loss and salvation. With the use of surrealism and magical realism that can range from detailed to loosely abstracted forms, my narratives stem from the turmoil of my daughter having cancer and my life in Peru as a child where terrorism, poverty, and natural disasters often resulted in loss. Within these fearful environments, a side of optimism, survival, rescue, healing, and ultimate salvation can exist.
